Dear LPO Volunteers,
My how quickly a year passes. We have gathered for two lovely general meetings, a delightful Beer Tasting at The Deutsches Haus and experienced three amazing Suite Sundays. They allowed us to not only listen to enjoyable music but also to get to know our wonderful musicians a little better. We “Celebrated the Season” at the beautifully decorated Opera Guild Home with lovely music with a delicious array of food.
I hope you were able to bring a chair and refreshments to the LPO’s Swing in The Oaks at City Park. What a concert it was!!!! Carlos Miguel Prieto danced the Charleston with cellist Jeanne Jaubert, Doreen Kitchens wowed the crowd with an amazing rendition of “When the Saints Go Marching In” and the crowd showed their appreciation by generously donating to the LPO Volunteers Bucket Brigade. Twenty-five enthusiastic members comprised the “Yellow Bucket” team.
There is still more to come. Please consider attending the Opus Gala on May 20 at the Orpheum Theater which will celebrate the seventeen years that Carlos Miguel Prieto has been with the orchestra. The dinner has been sold out but there are balcony seats available for the concert beginning at 7:30. Call the LPO office (504 523-6530) for information.
Next up is the ever-popular Book Fair June 2, 3 and 4 at the UNO Lake Front Arena. Friday and Saturday 9-8 and Sunday 9-4. Remember, besides books they sell sheet music, CDs, records, art and have a table of Fabulous Finds. Something for everybody.
And, last but not least, is the Le Soiree des Adieu. There will be a short general meeting followed by lots of socializing on Sunday, June 25 at the beautiful home of Valerie Besthoff at 1931 State Street from 2-4. We have lots to celebrate, we survived Covid and are on a musical roll.
Membership forms will be out soon, so PLEASE RENEW….. WE NEED YOU!
Thank you for your support!
