Do you accept consignment at Encore? How does it work?
Yes indeed! We rely on our stylish customers to bring us stunning pieces. Please call the shop at 504-861-9028 to schedule an appointment to bring in your clothing items. Because of our limited space, please call ahead to make an appointment to drop off your items for consideration. We will determine what pieces are a good fit for our collection.
What pieces do you accept?
We take items seasonally only. Pieces we accept include tops, short, skirts, pants, cocktail dresses, gowns, shoes, and accessories. Acceptable clothing items include pieces that are new with tag, like new, or very gently used. Items must be freshly laundered, free of stains, holes, wrinkles, pills, missing buttons, and cannot have been previously altered.
For how long do you keep items?
We have a 2 month contract that begins the day the items are entered into our system. Depending on how busy we are, items can take anywhere from 1 day to 1 week to be entered. During the first month, items will remain at their full price. During the second month, items will be marked down anywhere from 20-30%.
How are prices determined?
Prices are based upon the item’s condition and resale value. After determining a likely resale price, the item is put on the floor for sale. If the items sells within the 2 month time frame, the consignor will receive 50% of the selling price. If the item does not sell after 2 months, the consignor can either pick up their remaining items or the item will become a donation to the store. Because of our busy nature, consignors are responsible for keeping track of their consignments and picking their items up should they choose to do so. If the item is out of contract and sells before a consignor picks it up, we are no longer responsible for the commission.
How does payment work?
Checks are issued the the second week of each month. Checks will be mailed to consignors to the address given in the contract that is filled out upon arrival to the store.
